The experience of completing the assignments proved beneficial to me in several ways:
The questions provided guided the process of reflection (something I usually have difficulty with). The reflection about my current practice helped me to see if I was still on track as a teacher. I have been busy with exams and work so it was a good opportunity for some reflection and renewal. I am guilty of neglecting this aspect of my practice.
The development of my initial philosophy statement helped reinforced some of my ideas about the use of ICTs in the classroom. I have always been excited about ICTs. It was due to my insistence at school that we have two computers and some software in the lab.
The ICT inventory helped me realize that we had some way to go at school in order to properly implement ICTs. I hope to be part of this process. The act of sharing the information with my fellow teachers was seen as being proactive by my principal. She was happy with her copy.
I learned that the administration is very receptive to the use of ICTs in the classroom.

Edwin,
Hearing that your ICT Resource List was well received from your Principal actually brought a smile to my face. It made me think about the essential conditions I shared with you in class last week. One of them was shared vision and leadership. Were there others on the list, besides the lack of resources, that you think you school needs to develop? How do you think you'll get there?
The fact that your principal is receptive to the use if ICT in the school is the first step. Continue to share your learnings with her. This course should definitely help you to share with the rest of your staff and principal the most effective ways that ICT could be integrated into the classroom. Hopefully, with sufficient funding, your school can move forward.
The major barrier to my school moving foward is the attitude of many of its teachers. I wish this was not true but it is.
Many are simply concerned with getting more out of the system than they put into it.
I have heard comments especially by senior teachers that their main objective in teaching is to "reach, relax and return." For many of them teaching is not a passion and the students know it. Most have spent more than 25 years in the service and have not received professional training. Their major concern is promotion. It's no surprise then that our students are not motivated to perform.
The main reason I think my principal was glad to receive the ICT resourse list was that she did not expect it. She is a very proactive lady and likes when others are also being proactive.
One thing though, since I completed the list our entire internet system has gone down. Teachers who saw the list and were motivated to explore soon found out that they were unable to access the system. Our multimedia capabilities are virtually zero. I understand that things may return to normal soon but I'm not holding my breath.
